I created the heritagestudies.org web site in 2010 as a way to help bring more awareness to heritage studies and the intersection of the social sciences and historic environment conservation theory and practice. Since my original iteration, I’ve realized that there is a growing gulf between academic theorists and heritage practitioners, which this updated site now represents.
From a technical standpoint, the way in which I originally implemented this site made it rather difficult to update content. This site is now running on a content management system, which should make it much easier for me to add new content, including a this blog you are now reading.
